Tour Description:
This group will start the tour with a visit to
CaliT2
(California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technolog)
to check out StarCave and NexCave,
which demonstrate cutting-edge communications and video technologies, including a 3-D
virtual environment. This will be followed by a visit to the
San Diego Super Computer Center (SDSC). SDSC is considered a leader in
data-intensive computing, providing resources, services and
expertise to the national research community including industry and
academia. Next, we will head down to
Scripps Institute of Oceanography
campus where lunch is on your own at
Caroline's Seaside Cafe, right next to the water.
After lunch, we will be led on a walking tour around the Scripps Institution campus.
Scripps Institution of Oceanography is one of the oldest, largest,
and most important centers for ocean and earth science research,
education, and public service in the world. Research at Scripps
Institution of Oceanography encompasses physical, chemical,
biological, geological, and geophysical studies of the oceans and
earth.
