Scheduled Tours
Please come to ISDC early, reserve your rooms to be in La Jolla on May 22 and take advantage of one of our fabulous tours.
- All tours will take place on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, plan on arriving a day early if you plan to tour.
- All tours run "simultaneously," so you will only be able to select ONLY ONE Tour Package from below to attend.
- Please pay attentions to the start time of your tour. Each tour have different start time.
- Please pay strict attentions to any age and/or U.S. Citizen only requirements.
- Please note that all of the tours requires you to walk. Please contact us before you register if you have any concerns.
- Tours will be offered to the Public as well starting on May 13.
- Registration for the tour is available now! Please click on the Conference Registration button on the right hand side (or top of the menu if you are on a smartphone) of the site.
- Bus transportation is included with ALL tours, announcements will be made the morning of the tours as to where buses will load.
- Plan on meeting a half hour before the tour in the lobby for last minute instructions and check in.
Tour Package 1: USS Midway, San Diego Air & Space Museum, and Reuben H. Fleet Science Center
Cost: $70 USD per person
Tour Size: 40 People

Tour Departure Time: 8 am
Tour Return Time: 6:30 pm
Tour Description:
This group will visit the USS Midway Museum for special access tour starting one hour before it normally opens to the public. The tour will be split into two groups of 20 each led by a docent that will tailor the tour to the interests of space advocates (including Midway's own rocket story). The tour will end around 11 am and then attendees will head to the Fantail Cafe for lunch (a meal voucher good for one entree, chips and a drink is included in registration). After lunch, we will head to the San Diego Air & Space Museum where they will have access to all exhibits including "Ripley's Believe it or Not!"
We will then head across Balboa Park to the Reuben H Fleet Science Center where they will be able to explore the museum and see an IMAX Dome movie (included in the price). The group will then return to the hotel by 6:30 pm.

This group will visit the General Atomics DIII-D National Fusion Facility, where we will get a tour led by staff. Afterward, we will proceed to Vanguard Space Technologies and tour the facility. Once finished, we will walk across the street to AleSmith Brewing Company, where we will be able to sample their beers (On your own). You will need to be 21 or older to sample the beer.

No FOREIGN NATIONALS Allow. You must be a U.S. Citizen. Your full name and/or other information such as Driver's License or other information may be requested prior to the tour. Tour Departure Time: 9 am

Tour Description:
This group will start the tour with a visit to CaliT2 (California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technolog) to check out StarCave and NexCave, which demonstrate cutting-edge communications and video technologies, including a 3-D virtual environment. This will be followed by a visit to the San Diego Super Computer Center (SDSC). SDSC is considered a leader in data-intensive computing, providing resources, services and expertise to the national research community including industry and academia. Next, we will head down to Scripps Institute of Oceanography campus where lunch is on your own at Caroline's Seaside Cafe, right next to the water.
After lunch, we will be led on a walking tour around the Scripps Institution campus. Scripps Institution of Oceanography is one of the oldest, largest, and most important centers for ocean and earth science research, education, and public service in the world. Research at Scripps Institution of Oceanography encompasses physical, chemical, biological, geological, and geophysical studies of the oceans and earth.

Then we will proceed to Stone Brewery Company to sample some of their famous beers. The last stop of the tour will be the Green Flash Brewing Company where we will tour the facility and get to use the tasting room. Food will also be available here at the food trucks for extra charge (you are on your own). The tour is provided by Brewery Tours of San Diego.
