NSS Roadmap to Space Settlement (and Development) Track

The NSS is sponsoring a triple event at the 2013 ISDC as the public release of its Roadmap to Space Settlement. The Roadmap track will consist of three events on Friday, May 24, 2013, starting at 10:00 am, ending at 5:00 pm.

• A Press Conference and panel open to all credentialed media and ISDC registrants at 10:00 am.
• A luncheon talk by Author Howard Bloom which turns the Roadmap concepts into vivid images.
• A 4 hour track of sessions, with 7 presentations, which will cover many aspects of the Roadmap.
• The track sessions will be starting at 11:00 am, and 2:00, 3:00 and 4:00 pm.

With the impending cost breakthroughs in launch costs, attention is once more shifting to actual operations in space. We can begin to dream big dreams again. The Roadmap Track will cover the future paths that many NSS members think we should follow. The NSS Roadmap, approved by the Board of Directors, attempts to lay out many of the space goals: (Milestones) and the Barriers to achieving such goals. The presentations will cover the legal issues surrounding space development, how space development can improve life on Earth, how you actually can build a 2 kilometer space colony with essentially current level technology, progress in the development of reusable launch systems , why a cis-lunar space transportation and logistics system is vital to reaching all of our space goals and destinations, how to achieve the ability to build space colonies, and how space settlement design competitions can augment and assist planning for future space colonies.
